When my spirit decides to drop my body, I (my spirit) am full of consciousness and can be anywhere in an instant. At this time, I seem to have no control over where that is. The awareness is very different than 3D, because time and other human concepts don't matter.
I don't wonder, where in the world am I? Probably because I'm too busy exploring and because it sometimes isn't in this world. When I have the visions, I'm still in my body. However, when I astral travel, I'm just pure consciousness and can travel through the insides of plants, leaves, walls, etc. Obviously, a wall wouldn't be very interesting to explore any deeper, but, surprisingly, earth and soil isn't totally boring. I guess it's just cool to be able to do that, even if it is underground.
