I hate to pick on Dr. John, because he could be on the spectrum. Just kidding, I don't care if he is on the spectrum. I find him about as unwatchable as his wife unlikable.
He is very, very smart (PhD) but seems very, very slow in the wit department. I can relate. I do not have witty comebacks and I'm slow as a turtle when trying to think of what to say, sometimes.
I guess he is what my people, back in the day, called 'book smart.' I haven't been able to watch him, because he tries to explain the unexplainable (it seems) by reading word for word from books that seem to fail at it, as well.
His slow wit combined with reading from books is a huge turn off for me. I guess he's really, really smart, but not brilliant. To be brilliant, one has to shine and that's where quick wit comes in.
It's like that time I was in the Doctor's office and I overheard the Doctor say, "go ahead and spit, it'll make my day." Now that's funny and it made me giggle.
Speaking of giggling, one content creator said they don't like when Dr. John giggles about rape. Another one said they hate that he giggles about true crime. And another dislikes his "creepy" giggling.
I have not really noticed the giggling, mainly because I have watched very little. I also have a dark sense of humor, so that might not bother me too much.
I don't know, maybe he's the kind of person that wants to hear about your misfortune, not out of concern, but just for giggles.
