Vantucky hillbillies are insufferable:
Speaking of breadcrumbing: I think Delta is just another Vantucky hillbilly, with the common sense of a hounddog. I have decided on the best way to confront her when the time is right. I feel it's necessary to plan this, in advance, because her type loves drama and would enjoy scrapping it out. So in a pious manner (I think that's what ETs say), I will quietly ask if she is okay. Then, with the same quiet tone, I will "hand her back her ugly" (as the ETs say), in the nicest way possible.
I do not normally do this type of thing, because I prefer to avoid obnoxious people. I had to make a similar plan that time I fired a client. He was an associate pastor at the church, kitty corner, across from my barber shop. Even his wife knew he was insufferable. She came in with him, once and told him to leave me alone.
He always showed up when the parking lot was empty (to get me alone, I guess). The day I fired him, a blind man was sitting in my chair. His wife always dropped him off, so there was no car outside.
I had planned to watch for him, meet him at the door and block the doorway, so he couldn't walk past. Unfortunately, I didn't see him coming, so he walked in. I went to the door, held it open and informed him that he needed to find a new barber, because I couldn't fill Vince's shoes.
Just as I thought (and planned for), he objected and said, "no no, I want you to do it." There were more than a few similar objections and my response was the same with each. After holding the door wide open and repeating, "I'm gonna have to say no... I'm gonna have to say no...", he said, "good grief" and "oh my stars," a few times, then finally left.
The client in my chair didn't know what to think, but seemed entertained.
