because I can't:

Now that at least 40% of Canadian tourists to the US are not returning to spend an average of $4,200 per person per visit, it can be very awkward visiting shops. With the desperate owners crying about business, the pressure is on. I felt the pressure so strongly in one store that I spent a whopping $20. Obviously, that certainly didn't make her day.
I accidentally walked into the store and was immediately hit with a sob story by the owner, then shown thousands of dollars worth of artwork. I appreciate art and wanted some of it, but I vacation in a car and drink instant coffee from a jar, made with car temperature water, so...
Apparently, the mountain to beach runners did nothing for the small businesses, except create a huge traffic jam, which probably kept even more business away.
I had no idea what was happening when the first batch of runners showed up in a ginormous SUV. I was shocked to see a sheet with a tally of roadkills (14 I think) taped to the side of their vehicle.
I wanted to get out of my car and confront them about purposely killing animals on the side of the road, then saw more vans and RVs pull up, covered with signs and decorations about running to the death. They also had roadkill tallies, so I assumed (and hoped) it had something to do with the running competition.
I thought it was stupid and plebeian to have a "roadkill" tally, because I didn't want to be reminded of the dead fawn i saw on the side of the hwy the day before. I began to wonder if the hoards of fringe decorated vehicles would ever leave town.
