Rule of Thumb for Using the term Rule of Thumb

The term ROT can be triggering for some people, because of its connection with domestic violence. For myself, I felt triggered and began to dissociate after the third time ROT was used in one short paragraph. I'm not sure why anyone would want to use the term ROT at all, let alone three times, after knowing the history. I do think people who use ROT are aware of triggers and have even experienced the awful feelings and reactions associated with being triggered. I think the term should never be used more than twice in one paragraph. I actually never say ROT, except in this one example of how to use it. ROT is dead to me, so RIP ROT!
